The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that your child should see a dentist when the first tooth appears. Older children should see a dentist every six months to prevent cavities and other teeth and gum (oral) problems. However, your dentist will inform you how often your child should be seen based on his or her oral health.
Services for Headstart children
Tooth decay is the number one cause of chronic infectious disease among U.S. children. This preventable disease also affects babies. If left untreated, this condition, often called Early Childhood Caries, or ECC, can make it harder for children to speak, eat healthy foods and stay on task. The Live Well Community Health Centers of Buckner, Carrollton, Concordia and Waverly want to be your child's dental home. Let us know how we can help.
