What are Peer Support Specialists?
Our dedicated peer recovery specialists have successfully recovered from past substance use disorders and/or mental health disorders, and they work with patients who are experiencing similar situations. They receive additional training and certifications in a variety of areas to best serve our rural communities:
- Certified Peer Specialist
- Harm Reduction Specialist
- Certified Community Health Workers
What are Peer Support Services through HCC Network?
HCC Network offers peer support services thanks to funding from the Rural Community Opioid Response Program (RCORP). Through shared understanding, respect, and mutual empowerment, these support services help people become more engaged in the recovery process. The program helps reduce the likelihood of relapse and often extends treatment beyond just the clinical setting and into the day-to-day lives of those who are seeking a successful, sustained recovery process through services like:
- Supportive Services including Goal Setting, Accountability and Sustainability
- Narcan Training and Overdose Awareness Kit Distribution
- Employment Assistance
- Transportation to and from treatment facilities (both inside the HCC Network and surrounding area treatment facilities)
- Housing Vouchers, Clothing, Food & Safe Housing Referrals
- Local Support-Group Resources
- Harm Reduction Supply Distribution (e.g. Sharps Disposal)
