Jimmy’s Story
In 2020, Jimmy’s parole officer referred him to Narcotics Anonymous meetings held at HCC Network’s Lexington office. During one of those meetings, the NA Chair invited Jimmy to share his story—and in that moment, he discovered something about himself: he enjoys being part of something meaningful and using his experiences to help others. A few months later, HCC Network’s HR department reached out to Jimmy with an opportunity to become a Peer Recovery Specialist. He officially joined the HCC team in November 2021. Now nearly seven years sober, Jimmy hosts the same NA meetings that helped him begin his journey and finds purpose every day in supporting others through their own recovery.
Jimmy said, “During my addiction, I had lost custody of my daughter. Being able to show that I have been clean and a productive member of society, I now have full custody of her. HCC motivated me to further my education and I have enjoyed being able to travel and see how other people approach peer recovery.”
