One of our Peer Support clients recently had some amazing words to share about her experience with HCC’s Peer Recovery Specialists.

Pam’s Story:

“My peer support journey with Molly and later down the line Jimmy are my reasons I didn’t give up and now have 1 year sober. HCC is an amazing network. Molly told me her story and showed me that no matter where your life ends up that it isn’t over yet! She helped me to every appointment if i needed.

More than anything, she answered the phone.

In my addiction, she talked me down and had the answers I needed (even if I didn’t wanna hear it). Even though my story ended up in jail. It didn’t stop there!! In county jail, I was given the # of, not knowing it, another HCC support specialist!! His name was Jimmy. He helped keep me in contact with Molly, but more than anything. He helped me remember everything was going to be okay. Made rehab an option by advocating for me. (Even though on my part it couldn’t happen) And for the 3 months I was in county jail with their help on my heart and mind, having people to rely on kept me sane. I felt hopeful.

Jimmy reminded me I was indeed OK! Because they didn’t give up on me, I never gave up on me either.

Molly dropped off the application to Hannah’s Ranch, a 9 month program my son and I could go to. I sent the application in and got accepted!! Molly sat at every court date. And on the day of my sentencing she wrote a recommendation letter that helped with the judge’s view of if I was a good candidate for this program or prison. With her sitting there and the grace of God, he said yes to the stipulation I complete the program. Molly was there to pick me up and housed me at a hotel until I could go to the program the next day. She drove me 1 and 45 minutes away to get my son and drop me off at the train. A ticket of which they helped purchase.

I wouldn’t be where I am if it wasn’t for HCC and all the help they provided for me!

During my 9 months in the program Molly was only 1 call or text away. And guess what?! Jimmy and Molly showed up yet again to support me on my graduation day. I now have hope for my future to go back to school and be something! Do things right. One day like them I want to help change somebody’s life too!”
